What is Green Infrastructure
Green infrastructure is simply using nature to provide services we need such as clean water, clean air, crime reduction, and flood protection. It's safe, healthy, and cost-effective.

Creek Bed
The dry creek bed is designed to catch roof run off and give it a place to soak in rather than wash out and drain away soils. This is an easy way to manage the water that falls on your property without causing any problems.
Pervious Path
A pervious path is made from materials that absorb water. It's firm under foot, but good for the earth. Ours is made from small gravel and crushed concrete, but other options include sand, crushed shells, paving stones, or more modern designs like grass pavers and GEOWEB. Some paths are even strong enough to drive on! Sure beats the hot old concrete.
Florida Friendly Landscaping
Every plant in our garden is classified as Florida Friendly. This means each one is adapted to life in the Florida climate. Using climate friendly plants requires less water, fertilizer, and maintenance. For more information, check out the Florida Friendly Landscaping Program from UF/IFAS
